Health & safety
Health and safety is one of our top priorities.
The Prayon Risk Management Unit has a zero-accident goal at and around production sites.
With this in mind, we constantly endeavor to:
- improve the well-being of our staff;
- protect the physical integrity of individuals;
- prevent damage to property.
We are committed to protecting human beings and the environment against the risk of a major accident.
Prevention is one of our core concerns, at the technical, organizational and human levels. We attach the utmost importance to safety training, and are constantly improving safety measures relating to the transport of hazardous materials.
As a Seveso company, our safety management is further enhanced by very stringent inspections performed by the relevant authorities.
Potential risks are identified, analyzed and brought under control.
Our internal intervention teams are trained to deal with incidents of all types. Simulations are organized regularly in cooperation with the relevant authorities and emergency services. Although the risk of an incident is minimal, it is essential to have the right responses.
Should an accident occur, people living near our plants would be warned immediately by our on-site sirens, which would enable them to respond and protect themselves.
At our Engis site (Belgium), these sirens are tested on the first Thursday of each month, at around 1 p.m. (in addition to the quarterly Civil Protection Service tests, which take place between 8.30 and 10 a.m.). We organize many drills, in which our staff are required to take part so that in case of need we are all prepared to respond effectively.
